About us

EMAN is a regional network that aims:

  • To significantly influence regional policy and service development to ensure equity for rural communities.
  • To support and develop the capacity and infrastructure of RCCs and the wider EMAN network.
  • To enable the sustainability of Rural Community Councils and support the sustainability of the wider VCS network working with rural communities.

See our Business Plan and Work Programme for information on specific objectives to help us implement these strategic aims.

Collectively, EMANs members have:
  • Over 100 staff working on rural development issues
  • Annual turnover in excess of £4 million
  • Connections to thousands of organisations, networks and individuals in rural communities
Our target audience

Regional agencies and national government are the main target for our influencing activities. However, each Rural Community Council also works to influence local county and district authorities and service providers to ensure equity for rural communities.

Following the merger with R3N, EMAN will ensure that the interests of third sector organisations working with rural communities are included in all influencing activities.

  • Rural Community Councils in Leicestershire & Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire.
